One more week and September is in the rear view mirror, but Summer Heat is NOT! It is now 105 and probably hit 109 before the end of the day. Not good walking weather. About 92 days now that we have been over 105 degrees topping out one day at 117! Lovely. What I dislike about heat like this is that the heat zaps a body even if you stay inside and never go out. It is like the stupid Chinese Virus shut down that has just about ruined our Country thanks to all the Liberal Idiots running this country! OK – I feel better now!
I have been slowly plodding along with In My Garden project. I have finished one more block and have 4 more to finish! Progress is slow when you purchase the entire seasons of Longmire because it brings on Binge Watching virus! Longmire is difficult to do hand work and keep up with the fast pace series. But today we finished the last two episodes! Ended the same way as it did the first time we watched it – Hummmm!
I have finished the 4 bunnies that fill in the corners. The second picture is the one that I finished this week (other than life’s interruptions). I have 3 more of the blocks to finish by adding the flowers, and the Center block that has some flowers, carrots, and a few leaves. I bet if I really put my mind and fingers to the task I could reach my end of September goal of 20XX. LOL.
The last time I posted was on 27 August 2023 where I discussed the new addition to our home – We have named it The Duck! Clay has been “repairing/upgrading/fixing/adding” things to the Duck that make it better than the manufacturer did. He has found the normal “things” that RV manufacturers normally mess up and there were a bunch on this trailer. But now all are fixed. We will have our Directv, DVD player and of course a Roku Stick! How spoiled can one be. I did 3 videos, but they will not download, so back to the picture taking!
On my reading goals I am behind due to “unforeseen requirements” of life, BCBS, and The Duck. But I have finished Bill O’Reilly’s book on President Trump and now reading Killing the Rising Sun by Bill! I have all of the Killing Series and just received Mark Levin’s new book The Democrat Party Hates America. Bill’s books are great books for History lovers (of which I am) and of course I have numerous political books hanging around. Killing the Rising Sun is all about how the world was in the 1930’s which was the Depression Era in the US, but also Japan taking over land from the Soviet Union in the 1930’s and decisions that FDR made that led to Pearl Harbor bombing and the US entering into World War II and developing Atomic Bomb to stop end WWII. Great reads.
On the quilting front I did make a pillow cover that will also be large enough for a lap quilt in the winter (if it ever gets here). This is for the Duck and is made out of the same fabric as Irish Mist quilt that blends wonderfully on the bed. I put the stars on point to give the blocks a 3D look. Maybe I should have just sewn the star blocks together without the borders, but too late now! LOL Now I need to get the urge to quilt it!

Now for the new quilting challenge for the next 7 months. Clay is a member of the Choctaw Tribe in Oklahoma and we donate to their Jones Academy each month. They found out that I am a quilter and showed interest in getting quilts made for the graduating Seniors this school year. There are 10 graduates, 7 girls and 3 boys. So I am going to challenge myself and make those 10 quilts, and we will take The Duck in May 2024 to the Academy (and of course we will stay at Durant Casino and RV) to present them to the Seniors. I am going to enjoy doing this for the young Native American students.

I will continue to attempt to do a short walk in the mornings and bike ride to fill in the 30 minutes of exercise, but today was a day to just do whatever and no exercise as it was hot and high humidity at 6:30 this morning. I am finding out that I am not the only one who is going through the horrible heat that it leaves one tired and not interested in doing anything.
