To-Do-Tuesday – An On-Time Post!

Greetings from South Texas – weather report – pick one and that is it! Crazy!

This is a short post to show that I have met a goal! YEA for me! I finished Autumn Jubilee! I decided to use the Hoffman fabric that I had in the Stars for the border. I thought about piano keys, but felt that this quilt needed some green! So here she is!

I am glad that I made the quilt, I did change the leaves to go all in one direction. I think the border makes the quilt.

I am not sure what is next on my list, so I will have to do an update tomorrow after I decide which direction I will be going.

I am still praying for my President Donald John Trump. He is my President and always will be and will be successful at the Supreme Court in turning this election around. I have now become a Never Biden forever and will NEVER BE A DEMOCRAT!

I hope and pray that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Clay and I will just enjoy the day as we are currently are doing these days with no stress since we have no family to celebrate with. But thank God we have each other! He is my go to Guy who keeps me grounded and supports me when my Anxiety goes sky high!

To-Do-Tuesday, Etc.

Let’s have the Etc. first! Our Weather in South Texas is pleasant I hope it stays this way and that now we can have rain for 2 months to catch up from the ‘no rain’ for 3 months! AND, this is my 445th Post since I started my Blog (give or take a year or two of “unforeseen requirements” preventing me from posting any quilting.

Yesterday I had a nice meltdown and sat down in my chair on the Studio Porch for a mental stress break and fresh air. As I sat there calming down, I noticed something about a Praying Mantis or Walking Stick for Texans, that was trying to climb up the leg of our picnic table. As I studied it and watched it continually try to make its way to the top of the table I took a picture of it. This little innocent bug was not going to give up no matter what! A lesson we can all learn in our lives when things look the most bleakest! Great lesson for me!

OK enough of bugs and stress remedies!

My goals for To-Do Tuesdays #67 from 16 – 23 November will be to finish this quilt!

This week I have finished the 2nd series of Stars for Autumn Jubilee for the last row. YEA! A goal reached!

Here are Star Rows 1 and 5 completed. I am pleased!

I will be working on the Trees, Leaves, and Pumpkin Blocks for Rows 2, 3, and 4. Then the fun on the setting and border. I have a few things in mind – will see if the creativity is still available! LOL

My friend Jaydee Price does not have a blog, but she is a proficient Quilter and Knitter! She has designed many quilts and has one displayed in George W. Bush’s Library in Texas. (We are no longer a fan of his but the quilt remains in the Library to be admired by others). A month ago she showed me a wall hanging that she had designed but had not quilted it. I told her when she is finished to send me pictures and I would tell the story for her. To me it is a striking pattern, and the colors used make the applique stand out. The background is so different from normal subtle backgrounds. Jaydee and I are both traditional quilters when it comes to applique – we are the “no Glue Gals”! She does scrappy so much better than I and I think she really hit this one out of the park! Coxcomb Wall Hanging was designed, hand appliqued, and hand quilted by Jaydee! Congratulations Jaydee on a beautiful piece of artwork!

Slow Sunday Stitching – Autumn Jubilee

Greetings from South Texas where a cool front came in during the night – Sure – it is 82 degrees – whoops let me get a jacket (I keep the A/C on about 72) LOL! We shall see how the week goes. But my walk this morning was great! I am keeping my stress level down by focusing on walking and doing my Vitamin D lamp morning and evening. My bloodwork indicates that my immune system is really running on fumes, so I will make sure that I do all things first to improve that and then working on my projects.

Today I have completed the Star Blocks for Row One of Autumn Jubilee . It is not a hand stitching project, but a slow sewing one. When I make blocks like this I pin each section together to make sure that all points match and that I have close to or at least 1/4″ on the outside! Yes it takes me longer to make a block like this, but being the Type A Perfectionist I am, I accept the slow going versus having to have a date with Jack the Ripper! Believe you me Jack and I have been best friends for a long time! I am enjoying working on this quilt, it is easy, yet challenging to make all points match!

I am thinking (do I still have a brain?) that I will make the tree blocks smaller so I can have 4 trees. As I study the quilt and looking at the leaves and pumpkins they are large and if I make the trees too small (like making 5) it will throw the effect of the middle blocks off. I thought about doubling the number of blocks to make a larger quilt, but thinking (do I still have a brain?) that I may not do that and add more borders. Ah creativity – maybe I am finding it again!

I do have another project waiting in the wings – it is going to have a Panel in the middle. I had 3 panels and only needed one of the panels so I shared and sent one to Lori and one to Gretchen. It will be interesting to see how we each make a quilt from the panel.

I purchased fabrics that go with this line also.

Of course I had forgotten about the fabrics when I started on Autumn Jubliee, so these will make a pretty quilt that match the panel. Any fabrics I purchased this year have really been forgotten maybe I had better re-visit the other fabric room in the house more often – along with the ones in the Studio and week my brain (if I still have one!).

Autumn Jubilee QAL

Good evening from our Conservative Home in South Texas. Still not Fall, or winter here. It hit about 82 today. This morning the humidity has returned BUT Sunday there will be a break and it will go into the 40’s at night and during my morning walk. Whew!

On 2 November I thought my world had calmed down, but no Medicare turned it upside down, then the election and more Medicare. I have turned it over to Senator John Cornyn to fix the problem. I am done!

This week was not that good either. It seemed that every time I was going to work on my projects, nothing went my way as planned. Today I had to go to the Dermatologist thinking I had a problem with a spot on my nose, only to find out that I have Eczema! It was good that I went in today rather than waiting until January 2021. I will be fine, but it shows what all the stress has done to my body.

I have made a new resolution!!! Anything that is out of my control is now out of my life. I will never recoup the money we had to pay for part of my eye surgery so it has to be put away forever and not be concerned. My eyes are working great so it was worth it. Clay is alive and well, so if we cannot recover the money it is worth it. We have many blessings and I need to really dwell on them and hope someday the country can get back to normal.

So this is all I have to show for the last 2 weeks. This pattern is called Autumn Jubilee Quilt Along . It started out as a row quilt, but she is offering different settings. I have not had time to read her posts so I be catching up tomorrow. There are 2 rows of 5 stars, a row of leaves, and a row of pumpkins.

I am working on doing a “controlled scrappy” version of this scrappy quilt. Maybe I will be able to finish it soon. It is easy and fun to make. Not sure if I will enlarge mine or just make a lap quilt.

To Do Tuesdays – 2 Nov 2020. Why Try!

Greetings from South Texas again! No walking today as I took a day off since I cleaned house yesterday and the old bones were tired!

Here were my goals from last week’s To Do list!

Finish appliquéing stems on the bottom 2 corner units for Mary Brown. √ Finished!!!
Sweet Stitches October Block. Still working on
Work on Stonefields remaining Sections – Preparing blocks for applique and piecing blocks. No Progress
OMIGOSH Blocks (Maybe?). No Progress
Blue and Beige Reproduction Quilt (Maybe?). No Progress
There are 3 fee on-line BOMs that I want to do a block a week – these will be called “diversions from boredom” projects No Progress

- Autumn Jubilee
- Jen’s Monthly Color Challenge – I purchased fabric for this project in December 2019!

I have finished the 4 corners sections for Celebrating Mary Brown

I was unable to work on anything on my list during the week as I spent most of my time available to do the vines.

I was all ready to get to work on sewing projects, but yesterday I had a great burst of energy and cleaned the house, figuring today would start the month off with quilting on UFOs. But that is not in the cards for me. Excuse me while I complain about dealing with STUPID people!

This afternoon I found out that I will not be sewing for at least a week. Today I took the time to check on my submission to Medicare for reimbursement of $7000.00 paid to BAMC ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT AFTER DOING ALL THAT WORK, MEDICARE DOES NOT CROSS OVER (ELECTRONICALLY) TO A SECONDARY INSURANCE!!!!

ENOUGH SAID ABOUT THAT. Now I have to reconcile the MSN’s, prepare another 250 page submission to Clay’s secondary insurance, and at the same time I have to do a 2nd package for submission to my BCBS insurance (Clay’s Tertiary insurance). I want to just say forget it but it is just too much money.

Plus I now have to do another Congressional so they can do the fight to get our money back (over $1,000) that BAMC over charged us. One good thing out of this mess – BAMC has been directed by Medicare to communicate and do a better job with their patients on how they have to bill for all Part B charges. Things are changing because I did the Congressional. YEA!

So I am not going to be a quilter, won’t be on the internet reading my Blogs, or anything. So if I do not respond to your comments please understand I am now no longer DE-STRESSED. The stress game is back on. I will start this on Wednesday as my only Salvation for the next 2 days is watching President Trump’s rallies. They make me feel good. He has such a great wit! I will really be de-stressed when he is announced the Winner!

We lost 3 good friends this week. Clay lost a friend from LV and then an unexpected death of a Ham Operator buddy, Barry, and my friend Wanda lost her Sister Dean. Just not a good 7 days!

Blue Moon, HQAL, Slow Sunday Stitching and Mary Brown

Greetings from Fall in South Texas. I loved my walk this morning – up at 6:15 and by the time I started walking at 6:45 I could see the sun coming up! Great to be walking in the light again after 3 months of total darkness AND in cooler weather! I love our regular time and wish DST would just die on the vine.

Yesterday I turned 76! I was born 2 minutes to midnight on Halloween night – AND it was 76 years ago in 1944 on Halloween that there was a Blue Moon! How about those apples! We enjoyed looking at the very big and bright full moon last night as a Blue Moon only happens whenever there are 2 full moons in a given month!

SO here I am at 76! I always take a picture of me on my Birthday, and it is so difficult for me to believe I am 76! You can see my beautiful Northfork Island Pine tree. We had another one that was pretty and Clay planted it last year so I could enjoy it but the baby deer ate it – they are no longer getting fed all that good corn!

I had a great day with Clay while we watched EVERY Rally that our beloved President Donald J. Trump had yesterday. In fact we have watched every rally that he has ever held! I love his tweets! I know that most women hate our President, but I love him and appreciate him. The main reason is that he tells it like it is, has taught many to see how dirty our Government is (I already knew because I worked in the Intel world for a portion of my 33 year long career.) They abuse their power! They tried it on me at a lower level, and failed, and it was no picnic to experience.

OK now on to my quilting progress if you are still with me! This week I have finished appliquéing the vines for the 4 corners of Celebrating Mary Brown’s.√√ It felt like it took me ages to complete them! I will study the pattern and decide which blocks I will select for November. I believe there are 68 blocks – the majority are 10″ finished, but the center of the quilt has some large blocks with mini-borders within that area so I believe I may have 52 more blocks to make! I may try to work on 2 instead of just one. I want to work on the Medallion for Stars Around the Garden.

Today I will start working on some more of my UFO’s. I am also interested in the following 3 on-line BOMs. (Like I need more quilt patterns and projects).
