Slow Sunday Stitching – 7 May 2023

Happy Sunday Morning and I mean that literally. I look back since I decided to clear out all of my UFO projects and 40 quilt tops that needed to be quilted and realize that it has been over a year since I realized that I needed to do something drastic. I sent 13 quits to Rebecca for quilting in October 2022 and I had 16 to quilt (some wall hangings included) and 4 left over from 2014 that needed to have bindings ripped and re done along with a few projects that needed to be finished. Here it is 7 May 2023 and all quilts have been quilted, 19 complete with bindings, 10 complete with binding sewn on and ready for hand work. Whew! And in the middle of everything I had to deal with the Chinese Balloon Virus (new one going around). Yesterday the last 2 quilts from Rebecca had their bindings sewn on and ready for me. (Side note – I will still have 10 to hand quilt, but that will be fun time WHENEVER I WANT TO).

I have a quilt show the last week of May and that will require 4 sleeves and 4 labels, along with the 3 labels and sleeves for the quilts for the San Antonio Quilt Show in September. I have all of the 7 sleeves and labels completed and Brinton Hall is ready for me to sew the binding by hand with 10 others waiting in the wings for binding. I need to finish sewing the sleeves and labels in the next few days and then I will breathe a lot easier.

I would not have been caught up if it were not for Rebecca taking my 13 quilts and quilting them. She has done a superb quilting job for me and she is now my “go to quilting gal”!

It appears that while I have been away having so much fun that WordPress has changed their software and I do not have the time to take and mess with it now. Here is a link that gives a status where I was on 30 Jan 2023.

Here is a picture of what the 3 quilts will need by this week. Today I plan on sewing them on the 3 that are completed, the start working on Brinton Hall binding. Goal will be Tuesday! The rest of this month will be to get all binding completed as I plan on starting my quilting life again 1 June 2023. The quilt show will provide inspiration for new projects.

Stonefields Sleeve and Label

I hope that everyone has a wonderful week and I am hoping that my hands will hold out with all the hand work to do. I can say I am VERY UNPLEASED WITH THE WORDPRESS CHANGES. I may find another avenue to blog! I do not know how to find things so wish me luck! I will not be doing much blogging and I know I am so far behind in catching up with everyone. June will be so much better in keeping up!

Hugs

  1. I am in awe of all these wonderful quilts getting their finishing touches. I think it is remarkable now to have so many all done and can be used and enjoyed. Yes, life gets busy even for us retirees!

    1. Thank you Jocelyn. I feel like I went to work in late December and just retired! LOL. We had 10 days of no sun and rain (which was badly needed, now we have sunshine and maybe a shower or two. Of course next week when we travel to Kerrville for the show 4 days A lot of rain is coming! Hugs

  2. I haven’t noticed any changes, but I use Classic Editor and do much of my own html and css coding. If you have a question, I MIGHT be able to answer it. I can at least tell you where to find classic, and that can be done in text or not.

You have accomplished a lot this year! I’m still poking along. I have one quilt I might talk to Rebecca about, maybe two. She does nice work on yours, that’s for sure.

    1. Well, what happened was the I was on the iPad and it went to Jetpack. I will remember that one. It is not a problem on the iMAC. I did get the header menu fixed! YEA! I tell you pushing one’s self like I did is NUTS, but it feels so good to have those tops quilted! She does exceptional work. I will send all my complex quilts to her. Utility quilts will be done by me with free motion on my long arm! Too lazy to do custom work. Hugs

    1. Thank you Kathy, you also are a mover and shaker! I just had to do something with those tops! I do not recommend sending out 13 quilts to be quilted and then have them stacked to the ceiling to bind – all at one time! I am just happy that I entered the shows – the public will enjoy them even if the 2 Judges don’t like them. Hugs!

    1. Thank you Sharon! There were no changes – I was using the iPad and it went to that Jetpack of which I do not like but have to have if I want to comment when using the phone or iPads. I love my Stonefields – even if I cheated and did not do the more complex border. That fabric really adds to the quilt. Hugs

  6. Hi Nanette! I didn’t notice any changes to WP but then my site has been unavailable ALL DAY so maybe that’s what’s going on. Great job on all of your finishes and good luck with the show. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  7. I got nine quilts ready for our quilt show over the last couple of weeks. It’s a lot of work, but they are done and being delivered today. The show is Thursday to Saturday. Congratulations of finishing up all those UFO’s. Good luck at your quilt show.

    1. Lots of work to get them ready. I have 3 for September, just need to do the hand binding on 2 and then the lovely sleeves and labels. But July is the month to finish them if I have not done them before! I hate to do them at the last minute. I hope you did well at the show! Hugs

  8. Congratulations on all the finishes – whew! I am excited for your quilts to be in quilt shows. What all do you put on a label when it goes to a quilt show? My eyesight is blurry this morning so I couldn’t read it – lol!

    1. My label goes on the left side at the bottom corner. I put a lot of information on my quilt show labels. I have to do a lot of labels (small) for my utility projects. But that is for another day! I may end up just writing on the back of the quilt! Hugs

  9. I hope you take (and share!) lots of pictures of the quilts that inspire you at the quilt shows. I can’t wait to see what you decide to make next. As for WordPress — shoot! Here I am over on the other side of the fence with my Blogger platform, thinking the grass is so much greener over at WordPress. Remember what Erma Bombeck said: “The Grass is Always Greener Over the Septic Tank.” 😉

  10. I plan on taking a lot of pictures this year at both shows. I know I will get inspiration from all the beautiful quilts. NO WordPress works great, it is that they changed their APP to JetPack and I have not had time to play with it. I pay for Premium each year and it is worth it – no ads. Love the saying! Hugs
