To Do Tuesday – 14 December 2022

Weather Alert – it has been Spring here for the last 12 days, now we go back to winter for the rest of the year starting tomorrow. I am looking forward to some winter days ahead and have decided to make some Banana Bread and Carrot Bread this next week. Then I have promised Clay that I will make some homemade Chili and fix some enchiladas for him. I am thinking about baked chicken and scalloped potatoes for Christmas Lunch! We shall see if I get it all done!

Happy Day! Yesterday the problems with my new Apple Watch have been resolved! Thanks to James at Apple Support. For the last 6 weeks I have spent most of my time trying to find someone who has the initiative to really dig into the problem. Yesterday stumbled across 2 individuals who worked on the phone connection issue (Version) and Apple and by 6:00 pm all things are fixed! This is after returning 2 of the new watches (2 from Verizon and 1 from Apple), the problem was not with the hardware (watch), but with the way the watch works with LTE connection and Wi-Fi. I am very happy!

With all the interruptions it will not shock you that I have not completed many of my goals for my applique, quilting, or anything to do with fun. Here are my weekly accomplishments.

  1. New tires on the Navigator – Done
  2. Detail the inside of the Town Car – Done (Hard physical work)
  3. Make a zillion calls to Verizon and Apple – DONE (Mental wipeout days)
  4. Detail the inside of the Navigator – Done (Hard physical work)
  5. More calls to Verizon and Apple – Completed on 13 December 2022!
  6. Sleep well Tuesday night – Done!
  7. Exercise – Missed 3 days this week – Done with excuses/interruptions for the month
  8. OH Yes – I have completed tracing all the blocks (5) for In My Garden and did applique some stems on one of the blocks – Done

When I woke up this morning I just kept thinking it was Saturday – you know the feeling when we were all still working and on a Friday we had finished a project and had the week-end to look forward for rest and relaxation – WELL, that is how I feel today, but it is only Wednesday! I feel free from Unforeseen Requirements – 18 days before 2023, and I am happy to see the new year come. Maybe it will be a slow going year, especially since there is no place to travel to during the Flu Season! Of course one must think about the state of Biden Country when traveling with all the uninvited illegal aliens. But I will say I love Elon Musk! He is a true Patriot!

Here are some goals for me this next week and through the end of the year!.

  1. Load a practice quilt!
  2. Quilt as many quilts as I can (hopefully 10 by New Year’s Eve!)
  3. Start on a baby quilt
  4. Stick to a goal to work on applique and binding of the 4 quilts in the evening.
  5. Walk every day the rest of December!

I am sad to see that Linda will not be doing To Do Tuesday anymore after 27 December. I would love to take the Host duties over, BUT, until I know that life is really going to calm down with fewer interruptions, I cannot do it. It would be nice to see this weekly link up party going forward into 2023. Maybe there are 4 quilters who could do one Linky Party once a month with one point of contact who would provide a link to the person hosting it each week.

I personally thank Linda for all the time she spent providing all Quilters an opportunity to showcase our work. Hats off to you for all the hours that you gave us. It is appreciated.

Have a wonderful week as it appears this month is flying by enjoy stitching!

Hugs, Nanette

  1. Hi Nanette! You deserve the perseverance award of the year. Earlier in the year, you had insurance issues that you had to call about multiple times and now, the Apple watch. Finding the right person to understand your unique issue is the key! Some help desk technicians are just putting in time, while others really want to HELP. Yay to no flu exposure – I wish that for all of us. It’s so bad this year, even for a friend who got a flu shot. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. I’m so glad you got your Apple watch issue resolved! Isn’t it wonderful to have folks who actually listen and DO what it takes to help you? I understand interruptions, but you got a lot done. Your Christmas lunch sounds yummy. Jenni will come on Christmas Eve without the kiddos, so we might take her out to eat and just snack on Christmas. I love Musk too, he has brought back freedom of speech! I am excited about the return of winter – yay!
Thank you for sharing with To Do Tuesday!

    1. Thank you! Now they have done an update and messed with one of my Watch faces…. But I will live with it. And yes, we have lost the people who really know their jobs and want to really solve issues. Well, menu change – roast and mashed potatoes. Today I made 2 loaves of Banana Bread – and it is yummy and a big pot of Chili for Clay and will make him enchiladas tonight! He is in heaven! Next week I will make some chocolate cookies for him. In the cooking mood even if I cannot partake! Are you ready for the freezer on Christmas? In fact all this week it will be cold and colder for the next week! Better than the 100’s! Hugs

      1. Your menu sounds so, so good! I just printed a 10 day forecast for my husband, who is not happy about the upcoming freeze-out. We will have 3 days of highs below freezing, and it is forecast to be in the single digits Thursday night with “blustery” wind and a slight chance of snow. He is not a happy camper!

  3. Carrot bread? That sounds interesting, I have never made that but I think I’ll try it 🙂 Have a great week and yes … this month is flying by like all the rest 🙂

    1. OH I have the greatest recipe for banana bread (made it this AM) It has flour sugar 6 bananas, crushed pineapple, oil, vanilla, etc. Then you make the same recipe but do carrots (shredded or put in the blender). Let me know if you want it – it is from Southern Living Cookbook from the 70’s or 80’s. Wonderful recipes. Hugs

      1. I might have a similar recipe as I use the crushed pineapple too, not a favorite of everyone. Of course, substitute with carrot – yummy! (no need for recipe but thank you)

  4. You have had a full week already! I spent the week working around the blizzard. They are going to try and have school tomorrow, but I don’t know, the wind is still howling out there. We got about 8 inches, but it may have been less and it is still blowing around. I did get to finish teaching by 4:30 most days this week because I taught most of my lessons over zoom.

  5. Technical glitch problems are just maddening. Glad you got yours resolved. Enjoy the cooler weather. Grad Girl has been complaining that it’s not cold enough for any of her sweaters (she’s in College Station) and has been sad she hasn’t been able to wear any of her holiday stuff yet.

    1. I thought I was the only one out there with having to spend (waste) so much time on the phone. All of Apple and Verizon work from home and no one is there to make sure they know their job!

Well, Texas is known for warmer weather, But now that she is probably on break and home, It is going to be 22 on Christmas Morning and we are southeast of San Antonio.

I love Aggies!!!!! No Texas Tee Sippers around this house! LOL. I think I should start a business handling problems for people, but then I would be so brain dead by the time I cleaned them up for others! All I want for Christmas is NO PROBLEMS NO UNFORESEEN REQUIREMENTS, AND SNOW! HUGS AND Merry Christmas.
