OK everyone – it is now 18 days and it will be July! Time is flying by but the hot days and mornings are not flying by fast enough for me. I do not like the heat even when it is in the 90’s, so you can imagine how much I detest this summer. Since the first of May it has been 100+ and the pictures speak better than words ever could. Additionally the weather forecast is not looking good for rain the rest of the year here in South Texas. Maybe this winter it will snow again – won’t bother me! A picture speaks better than words!
I have been working on my Lori Smith’s Fit to Frame – Pattern 6 with Jaydee. She has finished 3 blocks and I have completed 2! (Hum – too many projects going at one time is my excuse! LOL! These are Jaydee’s blocks.
I changed the bottom leaves on my Block 1. I am working from a grid sheet (background fabric) for the first 6 blocks. It is easier for me to handle for the small 6″ blocks.
I have Block 1 of Lilly Rosenberry ready for applique, but will not start on it yet as I have 36 each 3/4″ circles to prepare. When I selected the fabric (1895 Hoffman Batiks) for this project I wanted something other than red and green. I think I will really like it. Now to finish making the 36 circles!
I have been working on my Bats and Boos Cross Stitch project and working on the pumpkins. I am finding that I really enjoy CS and seem to be able to focus and relax when working on B&B’s. So I will be spreading my evening hand work time between these 3 projects. (I need to join a Cross Stitch Party).
In The Garden is hanging around waiting, waiting, waiting. The Squirrel project is coming right along! I am ahead of the game! I do not have a quilt that I am currently hand quilting, but I figured this is hand work and maybe it will count for both HQAL and Slow Sunday Stitching! Do check out the ladies who are hand quilting today!

Well hey there Texas neighbor, OMG on that heat! We are supposed to see 100 here in north TX for the next couple days. The heat is oppressive and very scary, because we’ll have no precipitation for the long term. I’m jealous of my SIL who lives 160 miles north of us in Oklahoma and has had rain nearly every day for the past week or so. It just skirts us.
Your projects are so pretty, and I’m very impressed with your skill at applique. Bats and Boos is so cute. If you hear of a CS party, let me know!

Jaydee’s blocks are lovely, so are yours. You both are going to have lovely quilts when you’ve finished. I can’t wait to see your first Lily Rosenberry block, another wonderful pattern. Jo, from Jo’s Junction, does a lot of cross-stitching. She is hosting her 2nd cross-stitching SAL. The first project was a very pretty fall cross-stitch. Now they’re working on a redbird cross-stitch using silk thread or regular thread if you prefer. Both projects are lovely but I’m not going down that rabbit hole, I already have enough projects going. Check out her June 10 post titled ‘Cross Stitch Update’. Happy stitching!

I can’t believe how high the temps are for you but I understand its lots of heat all over, except here but I wont rub it in 🙂 Your appliqué blocks are beautiful, always enjoy seeing what you are working on. I’ll count your cross stitch and cheer you on. Looking good Nanette 🙂

I love the colors you chose for your appliqué, it reminds me of citrus trees. 😊 The heat you are getting is astounding, I don’t know how you can stand it! Appliqué is absolutely part of our HQAL family so you are providing us all with little quilting relief!

WHAT?!?!??? Slow down there, nelly . . . or Nanette in this case. HAHA! It’s not even the middle of June yet – I can’t worry about July. It’s the first day of summer school and I haven’t even taken a vacation day yet! But, I do agree with you. It seems like the summer months just fly by so much more quickly than the longgggggggg dreary days of winter. Maybe because there’s more on the schedule to do? We are due for some 110 days this week which is pretty darn hot for Wisconsin. Thankfully, we don’t have so many in a row as you guys. It’s like opening the door on an oven – I hope you get some relief very soon. Rain would be fabulous, I’m sure. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
