Slow Sunday Stitching – 7 February 2021

Good morning.  I am trying to figure out who beat me up during the night as I woke up stiff as a board!  I do believe it is the extreme weather changes here in good ole’ South Texas.  The weatherman just does not know what will happen with the Arctic Cold front that is projected this week.   As much as I would like to just sit in a chair today that won’t happen.  I am heading out for my walk and goal for the day is to quilt Scarlett’s quilt!

I am making great progress on SAG Medallion.  I see the end of this puppy this week, heck IF we watch the Super Bowl, I may have it completed tonight!  (Wishful thinking). Only 7 more leaves, 2 daisies, and 2 roses, and one large flower in the center to join everything!

This week as an “added” attraction, I am making a baby quilt for the sweetest young girl who works at HEB Curbside who is expecting a baby on 14 April which was my Mothers Birthday.  She was born in 1911 and would be 110.  Julie is naming her baby girl Scarlett.  Mother used to call me Scarlett O’Hara (Gone with the Wind) because she said I would now worry about things until later!  These are the colors she chose for Scarlett.  I did not know if I would be able to work with the “grey” that the younger generation loves, but I did!  Yea for me!

It is loaded and ready to be quilted today!  I have not decided whether I will bind it by hand or machine.  I prefer hand method.  I have to have it completed by tomorrow since Julie’s last day at work will be the 14th.

When this “unplanned” quilt is finished, I will be moving back to OMIGOSH.  I have 8 more blocks to cut out and prepare for sewing.  I have 16 blocks to make to finish the quilt, so I will be working 100% on OMIGOSH this coming week and hoping to finish it!

Have a wonderful Sunday and a great week!  I am pulling for the Kansas City Chief’s to win the game tonight.  If we watch the game it is the only one we will have watched this season.

Hugs, Nanette

  1. What a pretty quilt! I love that you are doing it for an HEB employee – we miss that place SO much! I am pulling for the Chiefs too and looking forward to watching this year. Getting ready to go make some sausage balls – lol! We have that Arctic front coming later this week and are expecting temps in the teens at night – brrrr! Ugh on feeling like you’ve been beaten. Take care my friend. 🙂

    1. Thank you Linda! HEB is censoring Mike Lindell (The Pillow Man). That has me upset with them. Well, the Chiefs lost, we watched it 6 minutes and when they showed the paper cut outs for people we left and did not watch anymore. Sausage balls sound so good! We are supposed to get the front on Thursday. I hope it makes it down here. It will probably be the last for the winter in South Texas unless we are in for a cooler Spring.

Not sure what that was yesterday – but I changed tennis shoes – I usually go through a pair within 3 months – the 1.5 miles each day wears them out. I also strive for 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day. Somedays it would be so easy to just veg….You take care – today is much better – delivered the Baby Quilt!! Hugs

    1. Thank you Frederique, did not get it finished last night, but should not be too many more nights of applique to finish it! Thank you on the Baby Quilt, I really ended up liking the purples and grey together. Have a great week! Hugs.

    1. Thank you Deb. I am beginning to think that it is a some arthritis, but too bad, I think I will pretend the train just ran over me or it is Fibro. LOL.
We have had so much wind this winter – wind tends to get me also and the Barametric Pressure has gone nuts this year! Up – Down – Up! Take care and have a great week! Hugs

    1. Morning Kathy! Ready for the week to start? Well, we watched until they showed the card board people and a saying on Brady’s helmet – we were “gone” at that time. We watch about 8 minutes of football this year. Then we went to a movie – Cleaner – Good movie – but you know after you see them 5 times each you can get a lot of hand work done. I did the binding by hand last night.

The baby quilt was delivered this morning! Yea – 2 goals met – my PHD 2021 and a TDT one done – now on to try to get OMIGOSH finished!

      Have a great day! Hugs

    1. Thank you Nancy – I normally would not have done the grey but she indicated lavender and grey – I figured I need some gray in the quilt, but not in the middle! Don’t worry – we watch about 8 minutes – saw the card board people, and a sign on Brady’s helmet and we were gone. So all year we only watched 8 minutes of football. I wonder if it will ever recover. Hugs
