Blue Moon, HQAL, Slow Sunday Stitching and Mary Brown

Greetings from Fall in South Texas.  I loved my walk this morning – up at 6:15 and by the time I started walking at 6:45 I could see the sun coming up!  Great to be walking in the light again after 3 months of total darkness AND in cooler weather!  I love our regular time and wish DST would just die on the vine.

Yesterday I turned 76!  I was born 2 minutes to midnight on Halloween night – AND it was 76 years ago in 1944 on Halloween that there was a Blue Moon!  How about those apples!  We enjoyed looking at the very big and bright full moon last night as a Blue Moon only happens whenever there are 2 full moons in a given month!

SO here I am at 76!  I always take a picture of me on my Birthday, and it is so difficult for me to believe I am 76!  You can see my beautiful Northfork Island Pine tree.  We had another one that was pretty and Clay planted it last year so I could enjoy it but the baby deer ate it – they are no longer getting fed all that good corn!

I had a great day with Clay while we watched EVERY Rally that our beloved President Donald J. Trump had yesterday.  In fact we have watched every rally that he has ever held!  I love his tweets!  I know that most women hate our President, but I love him and appreciate him.  The main reason is that he tells it like it is, has taught many to see how dirty our Government is (I already knew because I worked in the Intel world for a portion of my 33 year long career.)  They abuse their power!  They tried it on me at a lower level, and failed, and it was no picnic to experience.

OK now on to my quilting progress if you are still with me!   This week I have finished appliquéing  the vines for the 4 corners of Celebrating Mary Brown’s.√√  It felt like it took me ages to complete them!  I will study the pattern and decide which blocks I will select for November.  I believe there are 68 blocks – the majority are 10″ finished, but the center of the quilt has some large blocks with mini-borders within that area so I believe I may have 52 more blocks to make! I may try to work on 2 instead of just one.  I want to work on the Medallion for Stars Around the Garden.

Today I will start working on some more of my UFO’s.  I am also interested in the following 3 on-line BOMs.  (Like I need more quilt patterns and projects).

Of course I have a long list of UFOs to work on and will continue to do so.

I hope that you have a great week and that our Country does not have a Civil War on our hands if the Democrats do to win on Tuesday!

Hugs, Nanette

  1. Happy Birthday! Your looking great. Beautiful blocks, those birds really set off the layout. Melvas pieces from the past BOM is so interesting,so enjoyed reading all those letters. I felt rich after reading them.

  2. Happy birthday Nanette! I think you have trimmed down even more than from your last picture, you look marvelous with that beautiful smile. The vines really add so much to those blocks, it is amazing what a single strip of fabric, well placed can do!

    • Thank you Kathy! I need to lose at least 10 more pounds and really have problems with that, even not eating a lot. I agree with the vines. It will close the outside of the quilt which does not have a border (at least I do not think it does!). Hugs

    • Thank you so much Kimberly. I wish my hair had not thinned so much, but maybe in the next few months and the stress continues to stay down it will get better! Stress can do a number on our minds and bodies. Think it must be in the genes because both parents had thinner hair as they aged. Have a wonderful week! Hugs.

  3. Glad you enjoyed your birthday. I too love our President and I am so glad he is in the White House. I will be happy when he is re-elected. Your work is lovely and that will be a beautiful quilt when done. So keep going. Good picture too. If you haven’t voted do it by tomorrow. Now lets all get some sewing and quilting done.

  5. I’m still so amazed at your applique; it is just beautiful.
What a freedom to be able to voice my support of our President! I basically voted against Hillary in the last election, but since then I have come to respect and love President Trump. I am so thankful for a leader who doesn’t apologize for our nation and who defends it and supports it. Thank you for voicing your joy in President Trump!

    • Thank you Linda, I love Donald J. Trump! For a President to not take a salary – why cannot people appreciate that plus all the things he has accomplished. Those things go away if he losses. Your are welcome, and thx for the nice compliment for my applique.

      Hugs
